If you're reading this, you probably already know that the autumn equinox is more than just the day the leaves start to turn. Mabon, also known as the second harvest, is one of my favorite points in the wheel of the year. It's a moment of balance, the day when light and dark are equal before we tip into the longer nights. It's a time to slow down, take stock of what you've built, and feel genuinely grateful for it.
It's also a really good time to work with crystals.
Every candle in our signature collection is topped with crystals chosen specifically for its intention, and our Autumn Equinox candle, Apples & Bourbon, is no exception. The crystals on this candle were chosen to reflect exactly what Mabon is about: abundance, clarity, grounding, and the kind of warm, golden energy that feels like the season itself.
Citrine
Citrine is one of those crystals that just feels like autumn. It carries bright, abundant energy and is known for attracting prosperity and positivity. During Mabon, when we're reflecting on the harvest and what we've brought to fruition over the year, Citrine is a natural fit. It helps you recognize what you've built and feel good about it, which sounds simple but is actually something a lot of us struggle with.
Amber
Amber isn't technically a crystal, it's fossilized tree resin, but its energy is deeply connected to the earth and to warmth. It's grounding, protective, and carries an ancient, steady energy that feels right at home in the season of transition. When everything around you is changing, Amber is a reminder to stay rooted.
Tiger Eye
Tiger Eye is all about focus and courage. It helps you stay grounded while keeping your eye on what you want, which makes it a perfect companion for a season that asks you to look back and look forward at the same time. Mabon is about balance, and Tiger Eye holds that tension really well.
Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is a stone of truth and clarity. It encourages honest reflection, which is exactly what this season calls for. As the days get shorter and the energy starts turning inward, Lapis Lazuli helps you see clearly, both what you've accomplished and what you're still reaching for. It's also deeply connected to intuition, which is worth leaning into as we head toward the darker half of the year.
Clear Quartz
Clear Quartz is on almost every candle in our collection because it amplifies everything around it. Whatever intention you're sitting with, Clear Quartz makes it stronger. For Mabon, that means your gratitude goes deeper, your clarity gets sharper, and your connection to the season feels more real.
How to Work With These Crystals
You don't need a formal ritual to work with crystals, and you definitely don't need to have everything figured out. The simplest thing you can do is light your Apples & Bourbon candle, sit with it for a few minutes, and just think about what you're grateful for. What came through for you this year? What are you ready to release? What are you still hoping for?
If you want to go a little deeper, hold one of the crystals from the candle in your hand while you do that. Let it be a physical anchor for whatever you're sitting with. You can keep them on your windowsill, your desk, or wherever you spend time, as a reminder to stay present in the season.
And if you're not into any of that, Apples & Bourbon still smells incredible and burns for around 60 hours. Either way, you win.
Mabon is a season of gratitude, balance, and honest reflection. The crystals on this candle were chosen to support exactly that. Whether you're deep into your practice or just starting to get curious, I hope this one meets you where you are.
Really glad you stopped by.
